Story Walk at the French Art Colony

Story Walk November 2024

The Library's new StoryWalk title is now on display at the French Art Colony.

Our title for November is Turk and Runt: A Thanksgiving Comedy written by Lisa Wheeler and illustrated by Frank Ansley.

Turk, his parents and his little brother Runt all live at Wishbone Farm.

Turk's parents consider him to be the biggest, strongest, and most graceful bird on the farm. As Thanksgiving approaches, people start arriving at the farm to pick out the turkey that they want.

Turk's parents are sure that he will be chosen first and go on to become famous as a dancer or football player. Little brother Runt tries to warn them that the biggest and plumpest turkeys on the farm are being chosen for the dinner table rather than for their dancing or athletic ability. But -- no one ever listens to Runt.

Time and time again, Runt comes to the rescue when someone picks Turk as the turkey that they want to take home. On Thanksgiving morning, a little old lady stops by and decides that Runt is just the perfect size for her to take home! Now, Runt is the one who is in trouble! Will Turk and his parents be able to save Runt from the dinner table?
